These three Shaman builds separate ranged casting, weapon combat and healing. Damage rankings depend on equipment, target access and fight length; the presets expose the core interactions rather than claiming an unsupported universal winner.
Lightning Overload, Elemental Fury and Lava Burst form the ranged package. Elemental Focus helps manage spell cost, while Restoration contributes Mindfulness, Water Shield and Tidal Mastery for sustain and critical chance. Maintain Flame Shock when the target lives long enough for Lava Burst’s conditional bonus.
Stormstrike and Improved Stormstrike establish the melee spell interaction, while Flurry and Elemental Weapons support weapon damage. Maelstrom Weapon makes a stacked Lightning Bolt practical in melee; Mental Quickness and Rage of the Farseer complete the deep-tree package. Totemic Focus reduces the cost of maintaining group support.
Riptide improves Chain Heal cast directly on its target. Healing Way, Nature’s Swiftness and full Purification support focused recovery, while Mindfulness, Water Shield and Mana Tide Totem address long fights. The off-tree points add defensive and movement utility rather than turning this into a damage preset.
Totems support an area, so place them where the group will actually fight. Choose the effect needed now—damage support, mana, control or protection—and replace it when the group moves or the threat changes. Watch which elemental slot a totem occupies before replacing a useful effect. Repeatedly dropping an unchanged set wastes mana.
Elemental can attack from range and benefits from stable casting windows. Enhancement needs melee contact for weapon attacks and Maelstrom generation; forced disengagement has a different cost than interrupted casting. Compare the two with similar gear and the same encounter, including movement and resource downtime, rather than assuming one talent tree always has higher DPS.
Restoration should direct Riptide and Chain Heal where several injured allies can benefit. A spread-out group may require focused healing instead. Keep Water Shield and mana tools in mind before the group is in danger, and reserve Nature’s Swiftness for a heal that cannot safely wait.
Comparison checked against the Classic references in the local beta snapshot, build 1.60.1.70009, dated September 24, 2026. These are talent-data differences, not measured performance rankings; later beta changes can alter them.
“When you deal damage with a melee attack, you have a chance to reduce the cast time and Mana cost of your next Lightning Bolt spell by 20%.”

Data sources and limitationsThere is no reliable universal ranking from the talent data alone. Elemental values casting windows; Enhancement values melee uptime and weapon quality. Compare equivalent gear on the encounter you actually play, including movement, mana and time away from the target.
Not according to this beta tooltip. It gives Lava Burst a damage bonus against a Flame Shock target. Do not build the rotation around a guaranteed critical strike unless the current game data explicitly changes.
The current talent specifies the next Lightning Bolt, reducing its cast time and mana cost by 20% per stack. It does not promise an instant heal or Chain Lightning; use Nature’s Swiftness from Restoration for its separate Nature-spell effect.
Cast it directly on the Riptide target to receive the listed 25% effectiveness bonus. Make sure that target and nearby allies actually need healing; the bonus does not make a poorly placed Chain Heal worthwhile.
