These three complete Paladin builds prioritize different jobs. They are practical starting points for the current beta talent data, not a simulated ranking; adjust utility after checking your gear, mana and group assignments.

Holy — reactive healer

Reverence supports casting regeneration, while Illumination rewards healing criticals. Holy Shock and Infusion of Light create a quick response before a faster Holy Light; Light’s Vigil adds a planned group-healing opportunity. The remaining points buy defensive utility and cheaper, more frequent seal/Judgement use.

Protection — shield tank

Redoubt and Shield Specialization support blocking; Improved Righteous Fury and One-Handed Weapon Specialization support threat. Swift Judgement, Improved Seal of Fury and Holy Shield make the shield package the priority. This allocation takes three ranks of Iron Creed; move utility points there if stronger Holy Strike threat matters more.

Retribution — seal weaving DPS

Seal of Command, Conviction and Vengeance reward weapon damage and critical hits. Sacred Arbiter lets Holy Strike refresh Judgements, while Sanctified Judgement returns seal mana. Twist of Light makes a deliberate seal replacement useful before the next melee attack; it does not justify spending every global cooldown resealing.

Seals, Judgements and a useful blessing routine

A seal prepares your own attacks; Judgement applies the selected seal’s judgement effect to an enemy without consuming the seal in this beta. Build your sequence around that effect, Holy Strike and the next weapon swing. Watch mana before adding another seal change: the Retribution talents that refund or reduce seal costs are part of why that approach works.

Blessings are maintained buffs, not a damage rotation. Agree assignments before a pull: Might for suitable physical attackers, Wisdom for mana users, and Salvation where threat control is needed. Check Kings and other available blessings in the spellbook, coordinate overlapping Paladins, and refresh missing or expiring buffs between pulls instead of interrupting urgent healing.

Holy spends points on efficient healing and emergency response. Protection trades those points for shield mitigation and reliable threat. Retribution invests in weapon damage and seal interactions. A Paladin talent calculator can show all three, but one 51-point loadout cannot contain their three deep-tree packages.

Paladin talents: WoW Forever vs Classic

Comparison checked against the Classic references in the local beta snapshot, build 1.60.1.70009, dated September 24, 2026. These are talent-data differences, not measured performance rankings; later beta changes can alter them.

  • Holy adds Reverence, Infusion of Light and Light’s Vigil. Compared with a Classic Holy Light/Flash of Light focus, the beta tree gives Holy Shock a more connected role in both fast single-target recovery and planned group healing.
  • Protection adds an explicit Seal of Fury package and Iron Creed. Improved Seal of Fury restores mana when its shield absorbs damage, and Iron Creed connects Holy Strike to threat and damage reduction while Righteous Fury is active.
  • Retribution adds Sacred Arbiter and Twist of Light. Sacred Arbiter refreshes Judgements through Holy Strike; Twist of Light leaves an Echo of a replaced eligible seal for the next melee attack. These interactions are absent from the Classic reference tree.

Source note: Sacred Arbiter

“Increases the damage of your Holy Strike ability by 20% and causes it to refresh all Judgement effects on the target.”

Paladin build questions

Do I need to change seals every swing with Twist of Light?

No. Twist of Light rewards replacing an eligible seal with an Echo on your next melee attack, but mana and global cooldowns still matter. Start with a stable Judgement and Holy Strike sequence, then add a seal swap when it will not delay a higher-priority action.

Which blessings should our Paladins maintain in a dungeon?

Assign blessings by the recipient’s resource and threat needs: physical damage support, mana sustain or threat reduction. Coordinate Might, Wisdom, Salvation and other available buffs before pulling; refresh them between fights. Repeatedly casting blessings during combat is not a useful rotation.

Can I tank with the Holy Paladin build?

It is not the shield-tanking preset. The Protection build purchases block support, Righteous Fury threat and Holy Shield; the Holy build spends those points on healing. Use a separate saved Protection loadout and appropriate tank equipment for a tank assignment.

When should a Holy Paladin use Holy Shock instead of another Holy Light?

Use its fast response when a target cannot wait for a cast or when movement prevents casting. Infusion of Light can reward a healing critical with a faster Holy Light afterward; Light’s Vigil gives another reason to plan Holy Shock for group damage. Avoid wasting it into full health solely to seek a proc.
